I purchase two farm shares per year from Life Force Farm. The summer share is 20-22 weeks of fresh vegetables that I pick up once a week at the farm. I don’t get to choose what veggies I get, unless there’s a choice between, say, broccoli and cauliflower, or snap peas and snow peas. In the winter I go to the farm every other week to pick up a winter share. While there are fresh greens, there are also a lot of squashes, members of the onion family, and….yeah. Squashes and onions. Shares are about $300. So, for about $15 a week, I am overwhelmed with fresh organic vegetables.
What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. You pay money up front to a farm and farmer, and then receive vegetables during the harvest season.
How can you find your own CSA?
One of the best ways to find a CSA is to go to Local Harvest and type in your zip code or state.
